Welcome to Beer Goodness by Kevin Reed, Director of Brewing Operations

At Rock Bottom, our job is to make the beer that you love to drink. It’s that simple.

But it’s not that easy.

It requires constant attention to detail and a willingness to stay committed, work hard, and go that extra mile.

And then there’s the intensive product testing; exhausting but oh-so-enjoyable.

Sure, we’ve received numerous awards for our craft, but nothing tells us you love our beer more than making us brew more of it.

Our brewing philosophy can be distilled down to a few guiding principles.

The highest quality ingredients produce the highest quality beer.

  • Our brewers select only the finest hops in Washington’s Yakima Valley to ensure high quality and consistency.
  • We use only the highest quality domestic and imported malted barley in our beer.
  • We use only our own proprietary yeast, securely stored at labs around the country.

Pay attention, from grain to glass.

We view the brewing process as a holistic journey from the finest fields of barley and hops through our brewery, and finally to the perfectly poured pint in your hand.

Fresh beer is the best beer.

Rock Bottom beer is produced right here in our onsite brewery. It doesn’t spend any time on trucks, trains, boats or resting in hot, dusty warehouses somewhere on the outskirts of Cincinnati.

Beer made here is eco-groovy.

  • We don’t package our beer, so there are no bottles or cans to recycle.
  • We use much less fuel by transporting only the raw materials we use in brewing and not transporting kegs, cans and bottles.
  • Because our brewery is onsite, we greatly reduce the water and chemicals required for packaging and cleaning.

Our brewers are tireless students of their craft.

Our brewers are always increasing their knowledge across a wide array of disciplines. And we are constantly challenging ourselves to keep up with changing brewing trends and technology. Every one of our brewers works tirelessly to customize each batch in order to perfectly fit the tastes of each locale, as well as meet their own exacting standards. This is their passion, their pride and their life, and it shows in every pint we serve.
